BABY LUCAS: WEEK 10

This week the baby is the size of a prune and all of our parents have been informed of our big news!

Week 10! Officially 1/4th the way through the pregnancy and our last week before we will be traveling to sunny Cabo San Lucas!

No new symptoms, however my nausea has been a tad stronger and my face is finally clearing up from the massive break outs I've had since being pregnant. Maybe my body is finally getting used to all of the new hormones? The lower part of my stomach is now hard! So I can officially "feel" the bump :)

At 10.5 weeks I was able to get an appointment for a blood test that will tell us the gender of Baby Lucas!!! It's a new type of test that looks for chromosomal abnormalities and also can see if there is a Y chromosome present. I'm lucky enough to have a friend who works for the company that got me an appointment last minute. I was hoping we would be able to do this and we will get the results when we return from Cabo!

I won't be sharing the news until we officially decide if we are going to have a gender reveal (since we definitely would want to share the news on here afterwards).

This past weekend Chris and I took a trip to Pottery Barn Kids to look at cribs and we both agreed on the style we want. We aren't purchasing it yet, but we decided to take advantage of the three-day weekend and make the drive since the store is about an hour away.

We love how sturdy it is (solid wood) and that it will convert to a full size bed so it's a great investment that will hopefully last our babe until they head to college :)

When I first found out I was pregnant I had a million ideas on how to tell our family and friends the news. Pinterest and Etsy are filled with ideas and in the end we decided that the most important thing was to tell those we could in person. I did make a few of these wine tags that are a cute way to share the news.

We also made sure to take photos this week for week 10's bump. I'm really looking forward to bumping it in Cabo for 8 days! I'll try to get week 11 and a Cabo recap on the blog when we return.

BABY LUCAS: WEEK 9

I won't be drinking any martinis any time soon, but the baby is the size of an olive this week!

Last week was such a monumental week in my pregnancy so far, that I wonder how I'll be able to top that until our next sonogram. This week I figured I would share some nursery room items and things we already have in our own nursery!

I love love this rocker we purchased. I love the fabric, color (the palest grey) and especially love the fact that it turns into a standard chair post-baby. I think it will look especially sweet with a fluffy (possibly faux fur) pillow/throw. I've already spent many mornings sitting and staring out the window. It's one of my favorite spots in the house already.

I purchased this light fixture after we had ceiling light boxes added to the rooms upstairs and it really makes a statement in the room. It gives off a glowy light and is perfect for a little boy or girl. Very gender neutral!

The last purchase we made for this room was a dresser from Ikea last fall and I LOVE it. It's large, the perfect height for a changing pad to sit on top and is solid wood. The room smelled like fresh pine for at least a few months afterwards. I switched out the knobs and love how it upgraded the look.

The photo below holds a lot of the things I love. Creams, greys, we'll add a statement color (based on baby's gender - baby blues or a muted pale lavender) and natural elements with lots of texture.

I have lots of plans for this special room. Just waiting for when we find out the gender!

No bump photo this week. Things got so crazy and since I only have until tomorrow left in this week we are going to start again with week 10. Chris was really bummed!

BABY LUCAS: WEEK 8 - OUR FIRST SONOGRAM!

First there were two... then there was you.

Finally! The week we have been waiting for since seeing those two lines early in the morning. You are officially the size of a raspberry/kidney bean and we kicked off week 8 with the Superbowl!

A bedtime of 8 or 9 is now preferred and weekend naps are becoming the new hot thing. I read that you are now able to bend your elbows and knees this week.

I had so many emotions before the sonogram. Anxious to see and hear you, nervous to make sure everything is okay, excited to finally tell our family. So many feelings! BUT everything looks great! Thursday morning we met with Dr. Vourlos for our first ultrasound appointment and she confirmed that the baby was measuring at 8 1/2 weeks, just like we thought! The due date is officially confirmed for September 13th and baby's heart rate was 160 bpm :)

It was so surreal and such a relief to actually see the baby! Chris and I both got emotional once we could hear the heart beat. It just made things more real and, for me, was confirmation that you are growing to be strong and healthy. It's hard not being able to know for sure how things are progressing, so I'm really looking forward to our next appointment and testing.

I made our next two sonogram appointments for the day after we get back from Cabo and April 28th for the anatomy scan. I'm hoping we can find out the gender before that appointment. :)

Our first sonogram! It's crazy how much you can tell it's a little baby.
